“I’m looking forward to serving on Startup Atlanta’s working board. The organization produces purposeful programming and events to support entrepreneurs all over the city, and I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and dig in with this great group!” – Carie Davis, Partner at Your Ideas Are Terrible and Enterprise Growth Institute
Carie Davis has an extensive history of investing her time and talents into Atlanta’s startup scene. A native to Marietta, Carie moved into Atlanta in 1994 to study Industrial Design at Georgia Tech, subsequently landed in R&D at Coca-Cola, and worked her way into design and then innovation there. While at Coca-Cola, she built innovation and entrepreneurship programming – training over 1,000 employees, creating an EIR program to partner with entrepreneurs for transformational growth opportunities, spearheading the $500,000 global partnership with UP Global (now Techstars) to engage with startup ecosystems, and also sponsoring Hypepotamus’ launch campaign.
She left her tenure as the Global Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Coca-Cola to start Your Ideas Are Terrible. The consulting company works with global organizations to implement tools and systems that deliver a steady flow of new product ideas and doubles the speed at which ideas move through the innovation pipeline.
Carie has just launched a new venture called the Enterprise Growth Institute which offers a number of open enrollment and customized courses based on the biggest challenges facing corporate innovators. Upcoming mini-clinics have just been announced.
Carie also serves as the Managing Director of The BridgeCommunity by Coca-Cola – an Atlanta-centric, startup and corporate commercialization program that accelerates the application of startup technologies to large, local enterprise’s core business challenges. Under her wing, the program produced nine pilots and proof-of-concepts in 2016, doubled the number of participating startups in 2017, and is helping to create collaboration and density in the ecosystem around startup and corporate partnerships – including The Atlanta Corporate Innovation Summit that was held on October 13, 2017 in partnership with the Metro Atlanta Chamber and Techstars.
Carie is a graduate of Flashpoint and Singularity University’s Executive Program, and has also taken a course on board service best practices. In addition, she has served as the Atlanta Chapter Chair of the Industrial Designers Society of America, as a Curator for the Museum of Design Atlanta, organized Startup Weekend Atlanta, and volunteers at other community events as a panelist, coach and judge.
